ah! biggest mistake ever was taking on three courses this term, when I'm also TAing.

all week long,
sleepless nights,
living red
living read

After 17 years, I was in Delhi again.. but just for 3 days :( .. Met up with some folks etc etc(you dunno what I mean).. In my opinion, it has become like ancient Rome.. Fat with money and power.. clumsy by corruption.. The whole CWG fiasco.. The mayawati statues(wait thats UP!).. the "eye-sore".. Lodi road bureaucrat .. Roads overflowing with cars.. Metro always full.. huge malls with no purpose, full of stupid fake kids who have done nothing, who do nothing but talk about doing "things" and take pics(I actually indulged in some of these kids and they ran away :( :( ).. Endless slums .. Landfills turned into garbage mountains..
But, as always, the people of Delhi were extremely friendly to me ;) (what was her name again?!) LOL!

PS: DO NOT read the newspaper if you are a manic depressive like me

Beautiful , ain't it? Reading (rather Re-reading) "Evolution for Everyone" , I was amazed (for the second time) with the burying beetles story.What could possibly be the reasons for infanticide? Rather, under what circumstances would someone kill their progeny? Brilliant! Darwin, I bow to you.. and the mites on the back of the beetle are a another story altogether!

It was my bday on wednesday, but actually it spanned 5 days, from the saturday before. I spent it with ppl who mattered most to me, naga, rama and senthil on saturday and rehna, vasish, venky - making our bonds as strong as atomic number 22 - titanium :) . I didn't play cricket(of 22 yards) and I didn't play pool(of 22 balls). There was no FIFA world cup match(of 22 players), but we watched a repeat match without realizing it was repeat. Then we flew to the stars, or so we thought, as we embarked on a great VOYAGE. But the best thing about it was, as we sat to eat at sparkys the waiters brought me a cake with a candle , singing "happy budday".. Surprise surprise! I had to stand up on the chair and blow the candle, which I did in one shot mwahaha. I must've driven atleast 50 kms that day. Crashed in a friends place, and drove a beast of a pulsar-220 in the morning which cramped my leg(its too heavy for me). One day i'll never forget. The day that I have smiled and laughed the most.

PS: Vasish didn't help with his sitcom at the bar and sparkys
PPS: Venky fell on the floor at sparkys, laughing
PPPS: It was a super day with a Monsoon friend

Sheesh! The visa process is way too much work dude! Not to mention I just started to go about it. Oh by the way, I'm going to Oregon State -- the quest for PhD begins! Otherwise, summers fine.. some new friends(one in particular - mirror mirror on the wall).. and the best of the "ye olde" ones(one that left).. experimenting with new music(math metal esp.) and the new stuff ;)

This groping business sucks.. hate it - at the pubs, bars and in the buses, just cos she_1 was drunk, or she_2 was stoned. It don't work that way bros! Traffic! And ppl who can't drive to save their lives..Close calls! He was strafing like I was sniping him or something.. and hence he got the new paintjob

I wrote another paper this month, this time on medical image processing - mammogram classification. Lets see where this one goes. Still thinking about that multi-agent idea and reading some books on evolution (darwin \m/ \m/). A new set of eyes. I mean, laser corrected ones. And I finished a sidney sheldon book in less than 20 hours just before the surgery. Friends visit often, from college and everywhere else, and its fun to see them again. Epsilon greedy Exploration => found a couple of new places to hang out. I saw gladiator(again) and robinhood-'twas a decent watch.

Arbit work- here n there. Source:home. Errands! I had to drive 60 km in the scorching sun and do a bank job..Tomorrow is going to be hectic. Rains are awesome, as long as the power lives.. am sorry what was that? a quake? In chennai? Now? I heard some distant rumbling thou(and it wasn't my stomach). Weird!

Timepass.. till september. I'll be going to college tomorrow for a few days. A few recommendations for the killing :

Dasher

Hi all its been a long time since i wrote. And even now am not writing. I found this cool predictive text entry system called dasher. It lets you type using the mouse! The idea to visualise text as a zooming interface is just raw brilliance.

Also, since it uses the dictionary as a backend, the chance that you will make a spelling mistake is almost zero. Its kinda like driving a car. I find it even more suitable for rambling. The beauty of dasher is that the words find you instead of you looking for them. Whats more , you can even train it to your writing style. Try with a touchpad and its even better. I wouldn't recommend it to the impatient types. Others can it at http://www.inference.phy.cam.ac.uk/dasher. Yay! Nailed the URL. Now i can sit back, stick, my feet up and still be able to write easily. And its fun!

A windy evening. turbulent, wind and mind. I've seen little boys cleaning the coach floor of trains for coins. This one had a little monkey. Clutched in his hands a half eaten banana. Half not eatan (bloddy turbulent) . A rope connected them. As he cleaned thru' he tugged at the rope, and they both moved along. Mostly the tugging was unneccessary as the little one was on his heels (for both meanings of "his").. Oops! He dropped the banana. And his master moved on. He tugged a little but his master was already picking it up. He handed it back to him. He clutched it and climbed on to his head, as he crawled along. I could see the rope that connected them.

If you can figure out which "he" and which "his" is who.. do comment?

Hi all,
We've all used GoogleMaps. But its a lotta pain. It doesn't show updated maps and the difference is like 3 months. Also places in India are not so well covered. The FOSS way of doing this is OpenStreetMap

Whats the diference? Its editable by all. I mean the map itself is editable. Unlike WikiMapia where you can only edit the upper layer. In this, you can even add missing roads, correct names etc etc.

How can i help? Simple. Go to OSM site. In the view mode, you can browse through the map. If you want to add/change something, use the Edit mode. You can also use JOSM (Java OSM) for editing.

The map gets better and better as more ppl keep adding roads, places and routes. Pls contribute. Do your part.

Hey ppl, am back home. But this time, i had an appointment with dentist for "surgical extraction of imparted right molar".. vivid gruesome account follows.. LOL

its a dark night

theres rain

and storm

guy enters dentist office

office empty

sits in chair

looks at harmless boards

turns left and sees two sets of dentures.. evil looking ones on the shelf

they pounce on him

he fights them with all might

after a gruelling fight and some bite marks.. he returns to the chair

opens his mouth and stabs an injection in his jaw

injects something.. his only hope is that its not poisonous

So.. waddup? I came back from kolkatta(calcutta).. Very beautiful place.. wouldn't mind living there for sometime.. (not alone of course)..The buildings are old.. like the british left them.. but the insides are neo(w).. its like the future inset in the past... cool na? Once i came back, I started taking java workshop classes for the little ones(juniors).. Theres this thing about teaching.. When you teach , you appreciate its beauty.. java,ya its beautifully written and organized.. yes.. so unlike me.. anyways.. i love it.. just like calcutta(kolkatta is just a namesake.. nothing changes over there.. its communism!)

Finally i come online, after a month or so. A zillion unread mails, i see. Tax rates are being changed, so have to do more changes in my FinAcc project. What have i been doing so long? busy? Hell yeah. But the returns are starting to show (about time). Exams were disastrous is an understatement. LAN is finally stable with a forum and only abt 5 connections left. Blueproxima is progressing. The worst part is - 4 HOURS of power outage everyday. 11 - 12 noon (sweating hot in class), 5-6 evening(mad with boredom), 9-10 night(mosquitoes have dinner), 3-4 AM(I guess they want us to sleep in class). Festember ( collage culturals) coming up in 2 weeks.. really looking forward to that.. Karthik and sivamani concert is a treat.. not to mention THE dota tournament with 50k prize money. (Yes you're invited). But before that, a vacation in calcutta(kolkatta). Yipeeee! oops am supposed to be doing an assignment. Cherio!

Finally, a trip home. A break from the stupid mess and stupid record work. I was in two minds the whole trip and before. Should i take my hard disk or not? ( don't worry its safe). Should i take my player? (ended up bringing just the player and no charger and no charge either). Should i take Taha and read? (I didn't so chill). Should i take 'enchantress of florence' thats been begging me to finish it ?(nope ocs its too good to finish off). Should i eat in sangeethas or mes(ended up in krishnas). Should i go to station early? (ended up taking the bus). Sleepless night in the bus and a day full of work, am exhausted now. Btw, gotta get up at 0530 hrs IST (I usually follow RST, any guesses?). And TopCoder SRM tomo. Guess it doesn't go as plannned always.(never actually, see two minds again). Lotsa LOLZ.

Games is all we do. DotA , WoW, NFS etc etc. After LAN in just one wing(ours), laptops from far and wide( as far as firs floor) flew connected and played. DC++ conquered the movie("stuff") buffs and WoW, the other addiction. My long list of characters got appended with a female gnome warlock looking like my baby (list.append() LOL ). NFS burned outta nitrous (hehe). The first DotA tourney of the year started of bad as we lost to L . But still we have chances of making it into the semis(crossed fingers). A new game called TopCoder has come in. hmm.. intersting. But the biggest game remains as always, my trips to SC for you-kow-wat (59!). Cycle tests around the corner, better start attending classes now. Otherwise it'll be GG(for those who don't know the meaning, including a certain snake, its Good Game). Now i gotta go and update my two projects. Cherio!
